Advocate for the HEARTS Act and Access to AEDs Act – Support Cardiac Arrest Survival

As a valued member of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), you know how critical it is to improve outcomes for individuals affected by heart rhythm disorders. This Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Month presents a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Two vital bills—the HEARTS Act (H.R. 6829) and the Access to AEDs Act (S. 1024)—are currently under review by the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP Committee). These pieces of legislation are designed to improve cardiac arrest survival rates in schools by:

  1. Enhancing access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in elementary and secondary schools
  2. Providing CPR and AED training for students, staff, and sports coaches
  3. Developing cardiac emergency response plans (CERPs), which can help reduce death from cardiac arrest in school settings

The Society has already called on lawmakers to pass this important legislation—but we need your voice to ensure it gets the attention it deserves.
